The Cuisinart DCC-2200 is a 14 cup coffee maker, which means it is an ideal brewer for big families and those of us who drink just a little too much coffee. Here in this review I will be covering the features and functions of this great machine and hopefully trying to give you the information required to make an informed decision on whether to buy or not.
The DCC-2200 has plenty of pros, but also a few cons, however I’d like to begin with a few pros. This machine really does have flexibility, while it is marketed at the larger family requiring the extra coffee in the mornings, it also produces that same high quality when brewing a smaller amount as well. So there is no difference in coffee quality when making a 4 cup pot over a 14 cup pot. Something of note to be sure.
The water reservoir holds 14-cups, but this typically amounts to approximately 6 large coffee mugs. Still, a lot of coffee to be sure, but if we compare this to a 20 cup percolator it is not as big as some reviewers might suggest. Also regarding the reservoir, the opening where you pour the water is 4 x 3 inches, not too small, but it might be worth filling the tank while you are fully awake.
The water filter definitely helps in creating a quality cup of coffee. The heating element does an excellent job as well, it keeps the water at exactly the right temperature preventing the coffee from having that burnt taste while leaving no gunk in the bottom of the pot.
One con of the Cuisinart DCC-2200 coffee maker is that it has no thermal carafe, this is most confusing seeing as lower models often come with it. Not having the thermal carafe on this model is little bid of a let down, but we shouldn’t mark it down because of this. The carafe that does come with this model is by no means one of the cheap tacky carafes that you see regularly with lesser models.
Well, I hope this review has give you all the information you need with regards to the Cuisinart DCC-2200. In closing I should say this is an absolutely drip-free pot, with a coffee taste that rivals the best coffee makers, a heat element where turn of timing is adjustable, and even though the water reservoir is not removable the machine its self is not too heavy and the internal timer retains its settings when the power cord is un-plugged for short periods of time.
